Quarter life crisis...

This week has tested my temper; not only has my phone failed me and I've been home sick, but I also sprained my ankle. I honestly did not know how I was going to make it through these past couple of days. I was sitting in my, "Language Development" class this morning when I realized that I was in the wrong place. I've sat in the same seat every day for the past five weeks and today I finally woke up and realized that I did not want to be there. While applying to the University of Oregon I decided to go for a different major, "Communication Disorders." It is a great program to be in with plenty of job opportunities however, it's SO not me. Its depressing, it's repetitive, and it's all black & white. So I started to explore other options, after all, "It's never to late to be what you might have been..." After looking through majors I discovered something that is SO far out there, but at the same time... SO me. So I met with my adviser and this is what I told her.

I can't be in this major anymore. It's not what I want to do, it's not who I am. I am way too creative for it and I have so many ideas that I want to share with this world. There are no right and wrong answers when it comes to me and this major is totally opposite. I don't have to write a single essay this whole term and writing is the one thing that keeps me together. After some pushing and pulling, she was sold.

So here it goes... I've been preaching about my NEW major all day today and too be honest I've gotten nothing but laughs & "Wait.. are you being serious?" And yes I am dead serious... "CINEMA STUDIES" is my new and SO improved major and I could not be more giddy about it! Here is a little info about the major that is found on the website :] So now you might ask me what I want to do with this so-called major and I will tell you. I want to write movies, I want to write movie reviews, I want to one day go to film school to make movies. I want to share stories, I want to write, write, and write some more. I want to go into marketing and advertising. I want to sell something, I want to make someone smile, I want to be me and at the same time do something I love, something I'm passionate about. And at the moment, this is what it happens to be.

  1. Sister, this is so YOU! I'm so happy you found something that makes sense for you. 99.9% of college students change their majors more than ONCE, I did and I am so happy how it all ended up. You can do anything you dream of and this too is just another hoop. I love your new degree and I think you will relish in it!
    XOXO
