So august has come and gone along with September… It has been crazy in every way. August was the longest month of my life, however I did get to end my days in Reno with a bang. Burning man 2010 changed my life in many ways. Riley Cate convinced me into going along with buying me a ticket (the best present anyone has even gotten me). We set out on Thursday morning with Kuhfuss. While arriving at burning man we were greeted by many burners. I got to do my first playa angle and ring a giant bell while screaming; “I’m not a virgin anymore!” We arrived at our camp and immediately started partying! We walked down to Matt’s uncle’s camp where he has a huge Irish Car bomb party. I think we can all agree that we do not remember the walk back to our camp. Riley decided to take a jump on his bike, which then led to a broken arm. And this was only DAY ONE. Pat joined us the next day and the following days are all a blur. Burning man healed my heart a little and I wake up every morning wishing I was still on H and 8:50. There was so much of Matt at the temple and all around. Aside from the fun there was also another loss. One of Riley’s good friends Steve’s mother passed away while he was out at the burn. The news hit him the day we arrived. I can still hear the conversation between him and riley. After riley had asked if Steve was going to stay for the rest of the burn Steve replied… “This is where I need to be.” I did not understand this at the moment but after day one I now know that Steve was exactly right. We partied hard, we cried, we laughed, and we loved. We met the best people in the world. We shared our story and they shared theirs. There is so much to say about the burn but no words will justify how amazing it is. All I can say is that I can not wait to go back “home.”
